Fred has over 25 years of experience as a patent attorney and is of counsel to Rogitz & Associates.  Most recently the Director of Intellectual Property for Sony Corporation of America, Fred has considerable experience in establishing in-house corporate IP departments. He  increased invention submissions over 30 fold within a single year.  His experience also includes licensing and monetization of patent portfolios. His product licensing efforts have produced revenue in excess of $20 million.

Fred has honed his patent preparation and prosecution skills in various subject matter areas including chemical, pharmaceutical, biotech, fuel cell, water purification, electrical, consumer electronics, digital signal processing, automotive chassis, and more.  He has written hundreds of patent applications, and is an inventor on over 36 issued patents and 94 pending applications.

As the past president of the National Association of Patent Practitioners, Fred has frequently shared his knowledge by giving many presentations and has taught US patent practice to overseas organizations. His expertise also includes patent analytics and non-parametric statistical analysis in the identification of potential licensees, assessing technology trends, landscape and SWOT analysis.

Fred’s academic credentials include:  B.S. Chemistry and B.S. Chemical Engineering from University of CA at Davis, an M.S. in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University, and a J.D. from Santa Clara University in Silicon Valley.
